Season 1 Episode 10 of Martins & More takes a deep dive into the 16 Series as Spoon provides a history lesson that begins in the Folk Boom of the early 1960s and Maury offers insights into the current lineup of the acoustic-electric guitars unique to the 16 Series and designed for the touring professional and recording artists of the twenty-first century.
There is an old advertising slogan that went something like, “More people play a Martin or want to play a Martin than any other guitar.” Certainly, Martin guitars are owned and played by countless professional musicians from the biggest stars to the anonymous studio session players that back them up on albums or play on the soundtrack scores of Hollywood films and television shows. The reason for this can be summed up in one word: Tone.
Fingerstyle champ El McMeen visited Maury's Music to demo some great guitars for us. He's an incredibly-talented fingerstyle artist, and his use of CGDGAD tuning brings a unique resonance to the pieces he plays.
