Review: Martin DXK2AE
Rating you give the Martin DXK2AE: 2 - Did the job nothing special
Likes: Solid, playable, great intonation, Martin sound (sort of), Great tuners, nice neck
Dislikes: Hate fake wood, sound is Jekyll & Hyde
Additional Comments: The sound of this guitar has me baffled. On one hand it seems vibrant and boomy; on the other hand it lacks spectrum. It seems almost brassy at times, and the lack of any wood, let alone solid tone woods is unfortunate. Soft finger-picking is disappointing, since it has no resonance in that mode. Doesn't blend with vocals well in my opinion. I like the neck, but hate the look, feel and sound of what has been well described as a formica guitar. Don't skimp on the solid tone woods. I'm still surprised Martin would put their name on a guitar that has no wood. Don't buy it for the name. Pretend it's a no-name and evaluate from there.

Rating you give the Martin DXK2AE: 3 - Good product give it a try
Likes: The Koa look ply is easy on the eyes. Clean, crisp tone. Feels and looks like other Martin models.
Dislikes: A little on the quiet side acoustically. Depends on what room you play it in. Fret markers would have been nice.
Additional Comments: All around for the price it is still a Martin and worth playing.

Likes: Fishman Sonitone Pickup is out of this world! The manuf. of the HPL ("formica") did an outstanding job capturing the look of finely finished KOA wood.
Dislikes: "Formica" look inside guitar body. Also Sound unplugged & mic'd.
Additional Comments: Guitar sounds GREAT plugged in. Unplugged & mic'd it doesn't come close to ANY of my six other wooden body guitars.
