Martin 000 12 Fret Models
Many players find the 12-fret 000 sound to be the best there is, like Guy Clark for example, as it provides extra bass response compared the 14-fret 000, and a throatier voice in general. The 12-fret 000s makes a great alternative to a Dreadnought or Jumbo, in terms of comfort. And they are well-loved by fingerstyle players of both Blues and Classical music. But their long-scale neck also allows them to stand up to vigorous strumming, which is why Eddie Vedder plays one.
Martin considers their slope-shoulder 12-fret guitars to be “standard models” as opposed to the “orchestra models” that have 14-fret necks and flatter shoulders. That is why you see an S the model name, and the slotted headstock, even if that makes them look extra awesome.
