I need some advice. I am looking to purchase a mid level 12 string guitar. I played the Martin D12X1AE and was very impressed by the tone. It sounded amazing! I am a Martin guy I own 5 and would love to make it 6 however I am not sure about the HPL back and sides. I am for some reason affraid of it on full body guitars and would much rather have an all wood guitar. I have looked at Guild GAD 12 string, Alvarez, Blue Ridge but really like the Martin. What is anyones opinion on the HPL over time and giging especially on a 12 sting. And does anyone have any other suggestions that I may have not looked at. Like I said I'm looking for a mid level. I had purchased a x model 12 and also liked the sound.I also have no problem with the HPL back and sides. I could not get use to the neck, it killed my hand. I took it back and got the D12-28 and what a difference. I can play it for hours with out hand pain.The neck on the 12 28 is a little wider and has the old school volute.
