Martin GPCPA4 Rosewood
The visual beauty and sonic playground that is exotic East Indian rosewood elevates Martin's GPCPA4 Rosewood, with its Grand Performance body size that has a Cutaway on the treble side, making this member of the Performing Artist Series' 4th tier a great value when it comes to modern acoustic-electric guitars.
Made on par with the 16 Series of traditional Martin designs, this model brings solid Indian rosewood back and sides to the comtemporary Grand Performance body, which was recently designed with versatility in mind. The wider top and deeper body means it holds up to hard strumming better than the 000 or OM size while remaining balanced and resonsive enough for fingerpicking.
When topped with solid Sitka spruce of good quality, supported with the full Martin bracing, scalloped for optimum resonance and bass response, the GPCPA4 Rosewood is hard to beat for the price. Add the cutaway for upper fret access, and the sleek, fast Performing Artist neck with its effortless PA profile and PA taper, it is easy to get the most out of the extra complexity and full-bodied tone that one looks for in rosewood.
And once you plug in, the Fishman F1 Analog electronics provide easy volume and tone adjustment thanks to the on-board controls with a digital readout, phase shift to adjust bass response and feedback resistance, and the wonderful on-board tuner that mutes the volume when engaged, and works even when you are playing your Martin GPCPA4 Rosewood unplugged.
