C. F. Martin & Co. is the oldest surviving ukulele maker in the world and their new 0 Soprano Uke is a professional-level instrument of the highest caliber. Made entirely of solid sinker mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard and bridge, it looks like a classic uke from before the First World War, with a 1930’s Martin logo added to the crown headstock. This unique tropical American mahogany was recovered from a river in Belize where it had been soaking up minerals for over 100 years. The wood itself may be as old as 300 years! It has a tone that is warmer and bassier than normal mahogany, which is immediately evident when you tap the thin satin finish on the soundboard and hear the resulting ring, which is pure yet full. But wait until you hear it aglow with tone as you strum out tunes and delight in the overtones of a sustained chord! The 0 Spoprano has a fingerboard width of 1-13/16” at the nut and 1-13/32” at the 12th fret and comes with an attractive gig bag. You won’t find a mahogany ukulele that sounds this good anywhere but from C. F. Martin & Co., makers of quality ukes since 1915.
Martin has been making soprano ukuleles since 1915, and they were fashioned after the first ukuleles that originated in Hawaii back in the 1880s. The smallest-sized ukulele Martin makes, the 0 Soprano Uke features a top, back, and sides that are crafted of sinker mahogany that was reclaimed from a river bottom in Belize. Sinker mahogany is denser and offers slightly more harmonic complexity than regular mahogany. The entire body is finished in high-quality satin lacquer. It comes with a softshell case. The 0 Soprano Uke is a beautiful example of why Martin is still the name in superior quality ukuleles.
